CC 115 - Certainly Vintage

It's FRIDAY! Hooray! And even a long weekend for those of us living in America! YAY! We plan to spend the weekend working on our patio in the back yard because we *still* have not finished it yet and it has been months . . . in fact, the bricks have been residing in my driveway for months. It is so hard to get things done with two little kids underfoot. Basically, it takes one of us to be the babysitter and the other one to do the work. Unfortunately because M is just a tad stronger than I am, he gets to be the worker bee . . . but I will bring him water. I am so excited to have it all done and get a new grill and table to put out there so we can enjoy the summer -- awww, love that summer heat in Arizona.

So I was looking for not only something that would match with the colors of the color challenge (certainly celery, old olive and vintage violet/elegant eggplant), but a stamp set that I had not used often and I came across this set from Sellabration - SU's "Very Punny." I thought this little froggy would work perfectly. The paper was in my folder full of scrap paper and although it was a little lighter than I had intended to use, I think it works. It is by Anna Griffin. I stamped the frogs in elegant eggplant. You can't really see the sparkle, but I colored the frogs in using twinkling H2O's and a aquapainter and when they were dried, I glazed over them with crystal effects. I decided the corner needed something so I added the square purple brads (I found them in my treasure trove of embellishments) -- and they seemed to do it. Finally, I added the popped up frog on pop dots and the sentiment on pop dots and called this finished! Thanks for dropping by to see my work!

And just in case you are wondering, I am working on something to upload for today's fabulous floral Friday . . . and I promise to get that uploaded just as soon as I possibly can, but hopefully these cards will keep you satiated temporarily.

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...
