Vacation Ramblings

Withdrawl - It is midnight here and what am I doing? Browsing through the splitcoaststampers gallery of course. Being away from home does not mean that I have to suffer right? You know you are addicted when you cannot even go away for the weekend without checking in on SCS.

Friday we drove to Utah and went to the Peach Festival in Hurricane, UT. It was small, but fun. The kids enjoyed playing in these big blow up jumping things and playing on the big blow up slide with their cousins. They also got to have navajo tacos and peach cobbler and see their grandma and grandpa.

Saturday, we woke up and tried to make a plan. Two hours later we had it figured out. It always takes awhile to get a plan made with M's family because there is lots of family. Anyway, the guys ended up playing X-BOX and the girls went to Grandee's for ice cream. I had the most delicious S'mores sundae. Then we went to Roberts Crafts, Payless, and Hollywood Video where we got "Take the Lead" to watch in the evening while the boys were going to watch Football. We all went to Costa Vida for dinner. They have the most yummy burritos there -- Mmmmmm. After that the kids were tired, so we put them to bed and all the girls watched the movie. It was really good. Antonio Banderas is FUN as a ballroom dance teacher.

Okay, and I finished one of the books I was reading. Here is the review:

The Undomestic Goddess - Sophie Kinsella
I really enjoyed this book. I had read the entire shopaholic series and this book did not disappoint me. I find that if I really like something I will tend to read it faster, but if it is just so so it could take me weeks. I read the book in one day (I was supposed to be packing and paid for it later by having to pack into the night). Sophie Kinsella writes fun books, and her characters are interesting and somewhat loveable. I enjoyed that there was humor, a little romance, and I liked the imagery and idea of the book, it really took me away. All in all, a good book, easy quick read, perfect for the stay at home mommy or a beach read.

I've read several of Kinsella's books, so I'll look for this one soon - sounds like another fun one! Thanks for sharing your review!

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...
