Hanna Stamps - Friday Challenge

I made this card for Sandra's challenge (HSC65) in the Hanna Stamps forum today on SCS. Her challenge:

Since its April I thought we’d have a challenge with a play on the old saying ‘April Showers Bring May Flowers’! Create a card or project using polka dots (the ‘rain’) and flowers. Who doesn’t love polka dots!?! You can use prima flowers or flower designer paper or even a flower card using polka dot paper! Just use them both!

Polka dots and flowers happen to be two of my favorite stamping things. I love how polka dots can work with both masculine and feminine cards as well as cards for children, it all just depends on size, shape, etc. I know Valentines Day is past . . . but this card is a Valentine . . . apparently I am feeling loving right now. *blushes* Layout for this card came from the CARD POSITIONING SYSTEMS blog. Hope you are having a wonderful day! I will try and get back on here a little later to show you the card I made for my color challenge I issued yesterday. Until then . . .

Stamps: Paper Dolls Hanna (Hanna Stamps), Handwritten Notes (Papertrey Ink) Paper: Regal Rose (SU!), Bon Bon Swiss Dot (Doodlebug Inc.), Bittersweet - Vanilla Fudge (Basic Grey), Very vanilla (SU!) Ink: Onyx Black Versafine Accessories: Sweet & Sassy Cinderella Paper Flowers (Prima Marketing Inc), Pearl rhinestone stickers (Michaels Stores Inc.), Sewing machine (Singer), brown thread (Sulky), clear embossing powder (SU!), copic ciao markers (Imagination International Inc.)

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

A good mail day

Yesterday was an awesome mail day! I got my swaps from Jody (texasjodylynn). Let me explain, each month, Jody and I swap three things -- cards, 3D objects (usually), and sometimes goodies we find that we think the other person might like. We have done this for about 6 months I think. Well yesterday I got the most amazing Jody package. Here are a few pictures of the stuff inside. The chocolate box was made with designer paper and said "You make life sweet" on top and inside there were some yummy dove chocolates. Seriously, dark chocolate is the BEST! Next I found this most gorgeous purse with some treasures inside it. Some gems and some princess brads, and a harry potter bookmark. The purse itself is amazing. I asked Jody how she did it and she said with chalk and craft inks and lots of embossing powder. It just shines. It is just so amazing. She put in so many brads and she said she even had to use a drill on it. Amazing! I avoid scary tools like drills wher...
