Easter Egg-stravaganza Hunt in Surprise

We woke up early this morning so that we could take the kids to the Easter egg hunt. It was organized by age -- our goal was to get there by 9:30 for the 2 year old hunt. We got there late, so I let J do the three year old hunt and that was funny because he was clearly younger than everyone. He had fun though, and managed to pick up about 10 eggs and 3 suckers, and a little toy deer -- which he was super excited about.

It was fun trying to get him to run and get the eggs. He was kind of slower than the rest of the kids -- but he had a blast. I was a little shocked that after about 5 times of the announcer reminding parents that the hunt was for the kids and parents were to only participate by taking pictures, etc -- there were SO many parents that sacrificed their integrity for $1 worth of plastic eggs and candy. Really they just made it less fun for everyone and I thought it was rude. Anyway, mini rant over. I think from now on though, I will stick to egg hunts in our own backyard in the years to come.

Then the four year old hunt was at 10:30 and E got to participate in that one with her dad. She got a ton of candy and eggs too. They both had a lot of fun. We got to see a clown on stilts and they thought that was too cool. We stopped and talked with one of the police officers as we were leaving -- he was on a motorcycle and he turned on the lights for J to see. J is already really into motorcycles and cars and it was one of the highlights of his time out today. We had a good day. Plans for this afternoon, relax and recover.

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...

ALMOST TO 50K

EDITED TO ADD: I go by my first name, not my middle. My first name is Amanda. *smiles* Also, I am going to keep this post bumped up to the top so people can find it, but I will be posting more, so please take a moment to scroll down to find the latest stuff -- this will stay up until 50K is reached. *************************** I am so amazed that so many people have been interested in little old stamping me. Okay, well, not me actually, probably mostly my work, but either way, I'm SUPER FLATTERED! I appreciate all the comments you leave me. They really do validate me and make me feel like I should keep on going with this blog. You all ROCK! So, I have decided to do a small giveaway to show my appreciation to you. I will have two separate contests. Both of these contests will win you blog candy (yummy embellishments, and other such fun stuff). The first one is to guess my middle name. You can post your guess as a comment to this post and then I will do a drawing of every...
