Just a Little Note - Study in Black and White

Things went well at the dentist today. My tooth was extracted and the dentist said it had the biggest root he had ever seen. He asked to keep it for some kids science project. Pretty funny. It bled for a long time, and still is a little, but I ate some ice cream and a burrito from taco bell because I was starving, and it seems to be okay. I will salt rinse before bed! My crown turned out to look perfect. I am satisfied with it. It does not hurt at all on that side of my mouth.

M decided he wanted to play Warcraft III (I hate computer games - UGH) online with his brothers, so I decided to put in some time in the stamp room and see what I could come up with. I admit it, I am an Alli wannabe. She does such amazing things in black and white, so I decided to try to do a study in black and white. I played with another set by Autumn Leaves Clear Stamps (Second Nature by Rhonna Farrer) and love what magically appeared before my eyes. Apparently the stamp Gods are feeling sorry for me and shone down some light. The sentiment is by Stampendous and I have had it lying around forever just waiting to be used and the swirl vellum is Stampin' Up! although I am pretty sure it retired a long time ago (sue me for being too lazy to look right now . . . I am suffering *wink wink*). I embossed the flowers in black and white contrast. I really like this! What do you think of it?

Sorry, hon, about your tooth...I hate going to the dentist. That probably goes back to my childhood, but it's never anything I look forward to. Feel better soon.

Dear Amanda
Great card, I love black and white cards and also black, white, and red together, just a hint of red. Sorry to hear about your tooth. It is not fun having teeth pulled. Take care.

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...

ALMOST TO 50K

EDITED TO ADD: I go by my first name, not my middle. My first name is Amanda. *smiles* Also, I am going to keep this post bumped up to the top so people can find it, but I will be posting more, so please take a moment to scroll down to find the latest stuff -- this will stay up until 50K is reached. *************************** I am so amazed that so many people have been interested in little old stamping me. Okay, well, not me actually, probably mostly my work, but either way, I'm SUPER FLATTERED! I appreciate all the comments you leave me. They really do validate me and make me feel like I should keep on going with this blog. You all ROCK! So, I have decided to do a small giveaway to show my appreciation to you. I will have two separate contests. Both of these contests will win you blog candy (yummy embellishments, and other such fun stuff). The first one is to guess my middle name. You can post your guess as a comment to this post and then I will do a drawing of every...
