How Does Your Garden Bling?

So when I sit and watch TV, I keep myself awake by playing on my laptop at the same time. I surf on the commercial breaks and last night I found myself on all sorts of cool sites. I found so many more cool things to add to my sidebars. I know you will love them too.

This particular card was inkspired by the pagemaps site. They do really cool stuff on that site -- mostly related to scrapping, but they do have a page of card sketch ideas and I fell in love with this one. I really wanted to try using my punch to create a scallop as I had never done this with it. It worked like a charm -- really easy too!!! I NEVER use prima flowers, but since I am involved in a wholesale purchase group and will be getting a bunch of these lovelies very soon in the mail, I decided to go for it. The flower paper at the bottom is by EK Success and is in the Inspirables collection. I really love it. I have used it before but I had some left over on one sheet and decided to use a piece of it here. The small flower stamped in the background in cranberry crisp, pretty in pink, and mellow moss is from the Small Sayings set that was in the mini catalog. I love this set. I find that I can use it so often. It is the PERFECT size. The little gems are just some "bling" I picked up at the dollar store -- they are even self adhesive. Can't beat that for $1. The celery polka dot ribbon was from Michaels. I love how it looks on this card. Oh, and the stems are paper pierced and then stitched with a pink gel pen that I got from my DDSS for this past round. They came from Target I think. It was a little brighter pink than the rest, but I think it looks okay. Off to stamp some more. Happy Friday -- let the creative juices flow . . . thanks for stopping by, hope to see you again soon!

I love the card!! I just found your website and I am so impressed with everything you do! I really like the fact that the "stitched" stems are not really stitched. I going to have to remember that trick.

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...

ALMOST TO 50K

EDITED TO ADD: I go by my first name, not my middle. My first name is Amanda. *smiles* Also, I am going to keep this post bumped up to the top so people can find it, but I will be posting more, so please take a moment to scroll down to find the latest stuff -- this will stay up until 50K is reached. *************************** I am so amazed that so many people have been interested in little old stamping me. Okay, well, not me actually, probably mostly my work, but either way, I'm SUPER FLATTERED! I appreciate all the comments you leave me. They really do validate me and make me feel like I should keep on going with this blog. You all ROCK! So, I have decided to do a small giveaway to show my appreciation to you. I will have two separate contests. Both of these contests will win you blog candy (yummy embellishments, and other such fun stuff). The first one is to guess my middle name. You can post your guess as a comment to this post and then I will do a drawing of every...
