Cosmo Cricket Play - Lena & Hans

I have had a long day! I started it off running errands and picking up drain cleaner, shower cleaner, and some other stuff we needed. My intention was to clean the bathrooms -- but I started to do a load of laundry and realized how much of a back log of clean laundry there was that was not getting put away that I went to the source, my closet, and realized it was not getting put away because the closet was a mess. SO, flash forward a few hours -- I gutted my closet onto the bed and I am slowly hanging things up and reorganizing and making it all nice and pretty -- but there is still a ton of crap on my bed. M will freak when he sees how messy it is -- but I decided there was no chance of getting it all finished before he gets home, so I took a break and stamped a card instead. *evil grin*

I stamped and colored some chickens and a cow (Penny Black) on a sample rectangle I had left of my Prism Papers sample that I got months ago. I was trying to find some paper that matched it and I came across some Cosmo Cricket samples that my old room-mate, Carrie, had sent out. The paper in the Dutch Girl pack matched perfectly (this one is called Lena & Hans and secretly that is what I am naming my chickens on this card) -- partnered with my real red card stock and sage shadow card stock -- the card was "mostly" complete. I played with some black with white polka dot sheer ribbon and found a pleasing way to layout the card. A final touch was to add the liquid applique on the chickens to make them "fluffy." The sentiment is one that I picked up at Michaels -- by jg demi for Studio G. It was just perfect for this card. The sentiment is popped up on pop dots! So, are you sick of the cows yet? I am just having so much fun with them, I don't know that I can stop -- maybe this week I will do a cow image giveaway so some of you can have fun too!

Okay, back to the closet cleaning for me *grumble grumble* Happy STAMPING!

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

A good mail day

Yesterday was an awesome mail day! I got my swaps from Jody (texasjodylynn). Let me explain, each month, Jody and I swap three things -- cards, 3D objects (usually), and sometimes goodies we find that we think the other person might like. We have done this for about 6 months I think. Well yesterday I got the most amazing Jody package. Here are a few pictures of the stuff inside. The chocolate box was made with designer paper and said "You make life sweet" on top and inside there were some yummy dove chocolates. Seriously, dark chocolate is the BEST! Next I found this most gorgeous purse with some treasures inside it. Some gems and some princess brads, and a harry potter bookmark. The purse itself is amazing. I asked Jody how she did it and she said with chalk and craft inks and lots of embossing powder. It just shines. It is just so amazing. She put in so many brads and she said she even had to use a drill on it. Amazing! I avoid scary tools like drills wher...
