Valentines Day is coming up fast . . .

The reason I know this to be true is because the stores already have all their valentine stuff out. It is curious how we just go from holiday to holiday in our culture. Anyway, my anniversary is on the 5th and I am not sure if I will use this card for that (because DH already saw it) or for Valentines Day next month, but I really like how it turned out. The lips stamp is from Stampabilities (got it at Hobby Lobby) and I used the rock and roll technique to get the edges deep chocolate brown color. Then I overstamped french script from SU. The rest is just sponged and stamped as you see it -- no magic there, but the overall card turned out pleasing. I get excited when Valentines day is coming because my birthday is the 9th and my daughter and hubby also have their birthdays that month, so it is a fun celebratory month for us *smiles*

I just wanted you to know that I really enjoy reading your messages and I love your cards! I have no idea when you find the time to do that and run a house with two small children! ;0) My children are grown and I work full time and I sure don't have time to do all the things you do. My DH does all the laundry - I just don't have the time or energy! Thanks for sharing all that you do and I really enjoy the tutorials you have posted - one day once I get settled again I will try making the pine cone balls and the star - they are just beautiful! And hopefully I can get back to doing workshops and stamp camps if I can meet new customers in the area we are moving to. Thanks from the bottom of my heart, Donna

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...
