Apple Annie's Orchard

Weekend again, time for another adventure.  This week J was talking to me about his homework and actually said "Mom, we need to do more fun stuff so I have more to write about for my homework and in my journal!"  SERIOUSLY!  Crazy kid!  We do something practically every weekend!

We started off the day with a green smoothie (and my kids liked it -- wanted more.  Remind me to write the recipe I found here some time!)  Then we got in the van headed toward Tucson.  The ride there seemed really long, so we broke it up when the kiddos seemed bored by taking some pictures with the cool boulder-y mountains and we got off at a tourist trap that said we could see "The Thing."  The babies had fallen asleep so just E, J and their dad went to see the THING.  It cost $2.50 total for all of them and it turns out, the THING was a mummy (see pictures below).

The on to the orchard.  The kids were so excited to get there!  First stop was to play on the tractors that kids were allowed to climb!  They all had such fun pretending to drive them.  Next . . . apples . . . they picked apples SO fast, I almost did not have time to capture pictures, but I think I managed to get one of each child.  We picked red delicious, some granny smith, and then took a cider donut break and went back to pick some peaches.  So much fun!  Sorry for the overdose of pictures - I never can choose!

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). A good mail day

Yesterday was an awesome mail day! I got my swaps from Jody (texasjodylynn). Let me explain, each month, Jody and I swap three things -- cards, 3D objects (usually), and sometimes goodies we find that we think the other person might like. We have done this for about 6 months I think. Well yesterday I got the most amazing Jody package. Here are a few pictures of the stuff inside. The chocolate box was made with designer paper and said "You make life sweet" on top and inside there were some yummy dove chocolates. Seriously, dark chocolate is the BEST! Next I found this most gorgeous purse with some treasures inside it. Some gems and some princess brads, and a harry potter bookmark. The purse itself is amazing. I asked Jody how she did it and she said with chalk and craft inks and lots of embossing powder. It just shines. It is just so amazing. She put in so many brads and she said she even had to use a drill on it. Amazing! I avoid scary tools like drills wher...
