Crafting with the Kiddies . . .

Busy day here today. First we went and saw "The Tale of Desperaux" - well, all except for the last 5 minutes because E had to go potty and could not hold it, so we missed the end. Feel free to message me how it ended. lol!

Then we went to JoAnn's, where I discovered that they are selling Core'dinations card stock (which I LOVE) and right now the paper is 6/96 cents - DEALS! Anyway, I have lots of this paper, but I bought some of the Gemstone collection (sparkly and textured -- woohoo).

When we got home, my kids were in a crafty mood (darn craft stores). They have this Disney book, that has all sorts of fun stuff in it. One of the things was how to make Celia and Mike and some other monsters from Monsters Inc. We got all the stuff the other night. We found some time to make the characters this afternoon. I think they turned out cute, and most importantly, the kids are SUPER excited and haven't put them down.

Dear Laura,
Don't come visit me today. My house is a mess and I have gotten nothing done. I did have fun with my kids though!

Thanks,
Amanda
(flattered you called me your hero, even though I assure you I am far from deserving).

Remember when I asked how you spent so much time with your kids and get your chores done? You said "settle with having the upstairs OR the downstairs clean, but not both at the same time." I've found time for lots more adventures together since adopting that principle. With kids that cute, I can see why you don't want to miss out on their childhood.

I love the little characters that your children made. They came out so adorable. It looks as though they want to be crafters just like thier Mom. Your children are beautiful.

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

A good mail day

Yesterday was an awesome mail day! I got my swaps from Jody (texasjodylynn). Let me explain, each month, Jody and I swap three things -- cards, 3D objects (usually), and sometimes goodies we find that we think the other person might like. We have done this for about 6 months I think. Well yesterday I got the most amazing Jody package. Here are a few pictures of the stuff inside. The chocolate box was made with designer paper and said "You make life sweet" on top and inside there were some yummy dove chocolates. Seriously, dark chocolate is the BEST! Next I found this most gorgeous purse with some treasures inside it. Some gems and some princess brads, and a harry potter bookmark. The purse itself is amazing. I asked Jody how she did it and she said with chalk and craft inks and lots of embossing powder. It just shines. It is just so amazing. She put in so many brads and she said she even had to use a drill on it. Amazing! I avoid scary tools like drills wher...
