It's the Little Things . . .

So I noticed one of my friends at church had a birthday this week, and I decided to take her a little treat! We are not super close buddies, but just have met and interacted a few times, so I thought it would be a nice surprise. Plus, who doesn't love a little attention on their birthday???

Anyway, I saw Jody's tutorial on how to make a Boxy Bag on her site, and thought I would try it out. It was SUPER simple and the results are cute!! I took it to my friends door yesterday afternoon and she was shocked and I think she liked it. It wasn't much, but it just had some lifesavers and a lemonade flavored lip smackers in it -- but you know, it is the thought that counts -- the little things! I wished her a Happy Birthday, told her to have a good day and I was off to continue my errands, run to the post office, etc.

Weird note on karma -- M would say it is all a bunch of baloney, but when I got to the post office, there was NO-ONE in line at all, I just walked up -- and when I left like three minutes later, the line was at least 8-10 people deep, backed up out the door. Someone up there was looking out for me!! Seriously, the post office with two crazy kids in tow is not fun with a line up like that! I was so thankful that I got there when I did.

SO, my challenge for you today is to do something nice for someone. Make someone's day a little brighter!!! The world is full of enough negative, so try to counter balance it with your positive actions. Seriously, you could do anything -- just take a friend a little treat, or it could be even more random than that -- like doing something nice for your grocery checker in line. It's sometimes feels weird cause it is a little out of our comfort zone, but it is easy and fun! It made me feel happy! YOU CAN DO THIS! Then, report back here, I would love to hear your stories!!!

It was super easy to make! The redline really holds it in place too so the project is pretty sturdy too!

Hello Amanda,
I love the little treat bag. You picked great colors. It's funny you mentioned the cashiers. At least once a month, I buy a candy bar for a cashier - especially if it looks like she is having a bad day or is grumpy. I also gave a bag of miniature candy bars to the people behind the pharmacy counter at my Rite-Aid store. I use their services quite often and they are always so nice. I too, firmly believe in Karma, and I know how I feel when someone does a RAK for me, so I will continue this practice.

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...
