My First Riley . . .

So I joined Hanna Stamps Design Team, after the Riley and Sophie stamps had been released, and so I asked some team members if they would send some images for me to play with. Well, Kristi, being the super awesome sweetie she is, sent me my own set of the stamps to play with, as well as some new release ones coming soon . . . (CHA is not that far away - save your pennies cause you are going to WANT the new ones - consider this fair warning).

Anyway, since I had not touched ink all week (being sick with the pregnancy and then finding out my uncle in Canada passed away, keeping up with household chores and my kids are having some issues). I really needed to stamp. I have been trying to stamp at night, but every night by the time I get to about 9 pm I am SO tired and basically pass out in bed as soon as the kids are asleep.

I did wake up around 6 am this morning though, and I made it stamping time -- here is my first ever Riley card! I used SC 176 for the layout and the color scheme came from the paper I chose to use -- Basic Grey Two Scoops. I used the grid technique on the soft sky paper in the background of the card! It is so simple and adds a little something.

Stamps: Riley - Hanna Stamps, SU Family Phrases Paper: Wild Wasabi, Not Quite Navy, Soft Sky, Basic Grey Two Scoops Ink: Versafine Black Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, sansodor, brads, wild wasabi striped ribbon, 3d Zots glue dots, singer sewing machine, chocolate brown thread, Oval punches (SU!)

I think this is my favorite of your recent Riley cards. He looks so comfy in that chair, it makes me wish I had a chair like that.

I love the calming colors of this card. Thanks for sharing!

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

A good mail day

Yesterday was an awesome mail day! I got my swaps from Jody (texasjodylynn). Let me explain, each month, Jody and I swap three things -- cards, 3D objects (usually), and sometimes goodies we find that we think the other person might like. We have done this for about 6 months I think. Well yesterday I got the most amazing Jody package. Here are a few pictures of the stuff inside. The chocolate box was made with designer paper and said "You make life sweet" on top and inside there were some yummy dove chocolates. Seriously, dark chocolate is the BEST! Next I found this most gorgeous purse with some treasures inside it. Some gems and some princess brads, and a harry potter bookmark. The purse itself is amazing. I asked Jody how she did it and she said with chalk and craft inks and lots of embossing powder. It just shines. It is just so amazing. She put in so many brads and she said she even had to use a drill on it. Amazing! I avoid scary tools like drills wher...
