Creative {Quest}

Yesterday at The Creative Quest -- my local rubber stamp store that I like (in Glendale) - they had a 1o card class -- where you pay a dollar a card and can stamp as many as you would like. The cards were easter and spring cards. I decided on two that I wanted to do, and went to work. Unfortunately, I don't remember who made each of the stamps -- but if you want to search, and let me know, I will update.

The first card has the most adorable bunny on it. The brown layer is a textured cardstock and the sentiment "Happy Chocolate Day" was stamped in brown colorbox ink. The bunnies were stamped in staz on black and colored using twinkling H2O's (I had never done this before). It is just gorgeous in real life. Then the little pink flowers (which are plastic) are attached using a brad. I modified my card from the original in the store a bit because I decided I would like it this way instead.

The second card was this pretty bunny. He was stamped in a brown ink (similar to staz-on) and heat set. Then he was colored with markers. Since when I stamped my bunny, I missed a corner of my paper completely, I did some direct to paper technique on the edges with the purple ink, to "fix" it. I think it looks okay. The sentiment "Happy Easter" was then stamped on a few places at random. The ribbon was done by punching two holes in the green cardstock (which is gorgeous and filled with sparklies in real life) and then I used the perfect bow method to make it look cute! I like this card, but I like my first one better!

All in all I had a fun time stamping at the Creative Quest. I fell in love with the H2O's and bought myself a pack of 12. They are just so simple and yet so stunning. I also got myself an egg stamp to play with and I plan to do that soon! Can you believe easter is on the way already?

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...
