Color over Alcohol Inks

I have been playing with stamping color over the alcohol ink backgrounds, instead of just a solid black. I was inkspired by my ink pads. I looked over and creamy caramel and blush blossom just happened to be right beside each other on my ink rack, and I thought that they might look pretty nice together -- so I tried it. I actually really like the combination. This card was Only orange refill and terra cotta adirondack alcohol ink using the blending solution. Then I stamped the leaves from SU "Autumn Leaf Prints" in creamy caramel. I layered that on creamy caramel, and layered the whole thing on blush blossom cardstock. The "Just a Note" stamp is by Wordworth. I fell in love with it the last time I was at my local stamp store. I love how this turned out. Soft, but also very autumn.

The second card was made using the same colors of alcohol inks, but less blending solution -- which made it much deeper and richer. I stamped the leaves from SU "Autumn Leaf Prints" in really rust ink. I layered this on a background, stamped with canvas background stamp, and sponged on the edged. These were both layered on really rust cardstock. I wanted to distress more on this card, but I cannot for the life of me find my Heidi Swapp paper edge distresser -- so I might just have to pick one of those up again *sigh*

So, are you sick of alcohol inks yet? I am so addicted, but I will try something new and different and exciting for you tomorrow . . .

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). A good mail day

Yesterday was an awesome mail day! I got my swaps from Jody (texasjodylynn). Let me explain, each month, Jody and I swap three things -- cards, 3D objects (usually), and sometimes goodies we find that we think the other person might like. We have done this for about 6 months I think. Well yesterday I got the most amazing Jody package. Here are a few pictures of the stuff inside. The chocolate box was made with designer paper and said "You make life sweet" on top and inside there were some yummy dove chocolates. Seriously, dark chocolate is the BEST! Next I found this most gorgeous purse with some treasures inside it. Some gems and some princess brads, and a harry potter bookmark. The purse itself is amazing. I asked Jody how she did it and she said with chalk and craft inks and lots of embossing powder. It just shines. It is just so amazing. She put in so many brads and she said she even had to use a drill on it. Amazing! I avoid scary tools like drills wher...
