Arizona State Fair - Weezer Show

When I heard Weezer would be at the Arizona State Fair, I knew I had to be there!  The last time Weezer was coming to AZ, their tour bus got in a wreck and they had to cancel the show.

Our family had never been to the state fair.  We got a sitter for the younger two and took Em and J to their first concert ever.  Em was really excited, J was more excited about the rides than he was to go to the show.

We got there about an hour before the doors opened.  Em and J did the read and ride program.  You read three books and write a summary of about 25 words about each one, then you turn it in at the guest services booth and they gave us these awesome ride tickets worth three rides, any three rides, regardless of ticket amount.  We figure it saved us about $30, well worth doing.  It was enough rides that it made the fair fun for the kids.  We did not buy any tickets.  We did two rides before the show and one afterward.  The only thing we wanted to do, but didn't, was the zip line.  It looked SO fun!

E and J decided to do the Sky Flyer as their first ride.

Sky Flyer in action

Posing and being goofy!

The Cyclone was what they chose as their second ride - it was a spin ride like teacups but elevated in the air

J really wanted to go on one of these haunted house/zombie rides, but E could not be convinced

Waiting for the concert to begin, and E making her =W=

Rivers rocking it

Pat and Scott (who looked super buffed up- someone has been hitting the gym)

J watching the show . . . his very first concert

I love this green guitar Rivers has!  Pretty!

My fam at the end of the show

E and J overlooking the rides at the fair

J really liked Behemoth Bug Land (it was really cool).  This is the mosquito

Ladybug and Locust

Black Widow

Awesome and disturbing . . . because everything tastes better dipped in chocolate

Their third ride, Crazy Coaster -- roller coaster that spins like teacups while you go

We wandered through the Agriculture Building and the Arts &Crafts Building

Cutest BIG bunny

Such a pretty chocolate brown color -- this totally makes me want a bunny!

Brand new baby chicks :-)

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...

A good mail day

Yesterday was an awesome mail day! I got my swaps from Jody (texasjodylynn). Let me explain, each month, Jody and I swap three things -- cards, 3D objects (usually), and sometimes goodies we find that we think the other person might like. We have done this for about 6 months I think. Well yesterday I got the most amazing Jody package. Here are a few pictures of the stuff inside. The chocolate box was made with designer paper and said "You make life sweet" on top and inside there were some yummy dove chocolates. Seriously, dark chocolate is the BEST! Next I found this most gorgeous purse with some treasures inside it. Some gems and some princess brads, and a harry potter bookmark. The purse itself is amazing. I asked Jody how she did it and she said with chalk and craft inks and lots of embossing powder. It just shines. It is just so amazing. She put in so many brads and she said she even had to use a drill on it. Amazing! I avoid scary tools like drills wher...

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...
