Fun Thanksgiving Ideas

Can you believe how FAST time seems to go during the holiday season . . . from Halloween on it just seems to be one fast moving downward slide into the new year. I always find it hard to manage to fit everything I WANT to do into the limited time. Anyway, here are a couple cute quick ideas that I will probably attempt to do with my family this year.

The first one is a thankful chain. I saw this on a blog, and thought it was awesome. There are some other great creative ideas on this one too. Basically, every day during the month of November, each family member writes down something they are thankful for on a thin strip of paper, and then you make it into a loop and attach it to the chain. On Thanksgiving, you can spend some time reading all the things you were thankful for (this is good because I always *hated* being put on the spot to try and think of something I was thankful for -- plus it gives you LOTS of time to think about how blessed you are.)

Ours is clearly a work in progress and while we haven't had full daily participation, I think we have all added at least a link or two to it. I think next year I would use more orange and red and vibrant colors. I still think it is a really neat idea though.

The second is just a fun favor . . . this one is from Family Fun and I hope I will have some time to make some. They are corn crackers (like christmas crackers, but for your thanksgiving table).

I know one thing I am thankful for are the awesome people who read my blog, hang with me through the slow times, and leave friendly feedback! Happy November!

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

Pinecone Balls Revisited

So lately I have been noticing that a lot of the traffic to my blog has been to the tutorial on how to make the pinecone balls that I put together about a year ago. SO, due to the increase in popularity, I thought I would get rid of some of my extra supplies on hand (because I made some already this year again and my fingers are sore enough) -- I have decided to giveaway a kit that contains enough supplies to make three balls. It features some great papers and ribbon and will be similar to the ones you may have seen at orientaltrading.com . I know it is not a huge giveaway, but I thought it would be fun! To enter, tell me what your favorite Christmas tradition is in the comments section of this post. I will draw a random winner on December 1st , so enter today!!! UPDATED: We have a WINNER -- Post number 44 was chosen using the random number generator and the winner is *drum roll please* Rosella said... WOW! I'd love to make some of these beautiful pinecones!
