Color Challenge 175/Mojo46

I made this card to accompany my check to Jody (if Jody is reading this, I apologize that you saw it before you got it) for sticky stuff purchases I made. If you have not gotten in on one of these, you need to! Head on over to Confessions of a Ribbon Addict and get yourself some sticky stuff for cheap. She always has some sort of share going on.

Todays card was a combination of the Mojo Monday sketch posted on Poetic Artistry and the color challenge posted on Splitcoaststampers.

I added photo corners in each corner to add a little more of the almost amethyst into the design. The colors are a little light in this photo, but it is wild wasabi, so saffron and almost amethyst. I also accidentally changed the sketch a little bit because I did the bottom strip across the whole card, rather than just in a rectangle at the bottom (I noticed after I had sewn it down of course), so hopefully you can all just let that slide and forgive me on that one. Sophie's face is popped up as well as the flower is popped up one level higher than that -- paper tole style. Sentiment is by Hanna Stamps - Things Hanna Would Say. Thanks for visiting! Hope to see you back really soon -- I plan to do a blog candy giveaway for my 500th post and would love to have you participate in that!!!

Stamps: Hanna Stamps - Beach Sophie, Hanna Stamps - Things Hanna Would Say Paper: Almost Amethyst, Wild Wasabi, The Paper Company - Saffron colored stripes, Whisper White Ink: So Saffron, Onyx Black Versafine, Wild Wasabi, Almost Amethyst Accessories: Wild Wasabi Striped Ribbon, Marvy Punches, Circle Cutter by Making Memories, Corner punch, so saffron brads (SU!), sponge, glue dots, sewing machine, white thread.

Congratulations Amanda!! I didn't even know you were expecting!

Wow, funny how a little thing like finishing master's coursework-getting students' final grades in-preparing for an overseas move- actually moving-looking for a new place to live and finding it can cause one to be out of the loop there. LOL

Good to be back on American soil though - I'm HOME!!

Congrats again on your happy news!

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...
