Another Hanna Stamps card and another Pasta Salad Recipe

It's getting warmer here and it has been awhile since I have posted a recipe for you to try -- so I thought I would do that today . . . I have been trying to cook the same things on the same days of the week in order to save more money for stamps, etc. SO, I have kind of let what's for dinner Wednesdays go to the wind . . . but I think I am going to start doing "What's For Dinner Weekends" and post a weekend recipe for you to try. I often have the most time to play and experiment with food on the weekend, and I bet it is the same for you! Let me know what you think of this new idea.

This recipe came off the back of a shells box and claims to be the "Best Ever Pasta Salad." I will let you decide:
INGREDIENTS:
1 16 oz. pkg of medium shells
2 c. cherry tomatoes, halved
1/2 lb provolone cheese, cubed
1/2 lb salami, cubed
1/4 lb sliced pepperoni, cut in halves
1 green bell pepper, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 red bell pepper, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 c. chopped green onions
1 (10 oz.) can sliced black olives
1 (4 oz.) jar of diced pimentos, drained
1 1/2 c. Italian salad dressing

1. Cook pasta as directed. Rinse in cold water to chill, drain.
2. In a large bowl, combine pasta with tomatoes, cheese, salami, pepperoni, peppers, onions, olives, and pimentos. Add salad dressing and toss to coat.

This card was a personal challenge to make something girly out of a very masculine set -- the new release from Hanna Stamps - Anthony! Perfect set for Fathers Day cards. If you order it ASAP, I am pretty sure Kristi is going to work her butt off to get it out to everyone before Fathers Day. This set came out last night at midnight, so it is brand spanking new. I thought, what is more girly than a pink sparkled cell phone. The layout for this was inkspired by the Mojo Monday sketch on Poetic Artistry.

Stamps: Hanna Stamps - Anthony, Karen Foster Designs Snap Stamps Paper: Pink Passion, Whisper White, Basic Black Ink: Onyx Black Versafine Accessories: Prismacolor pencils, black polka dot organdy, circle punches (SU), scalloped circle (Marvy), Creating Keepsakes Circle Cutter, Slit Punch (SU), White gel pen, Black gel pen, diamond stickles

Cute! I've been making this Pasta Salad for years (mine has sharp cheddar instead of provolone and more pepperoni instead of salami...and no pimentos). In fact...we just had it this weekend! Yummy! Balsamic Vinegar dressing adds a little more KICK!

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

A good mail day

Yesterday was an awesome mail day! I got my swaps from Jody (texasjodylynn). Let me explain, each month, Jody and I swap three things -- cards, 3D objects (usually), and sometimes goodies we find that we think the other person might like. We have done this for about 6 months I think. Well yesterday I got the most amazing Jody package. Here are a few pictures of the stuff inside. The chocolate box was made with designer paper and said "You make life sweet" on top and inside there were some yummy dove chocolates. Seriously, dark chocolate is the BEST! Next I found this most gorgeous purse with some treasures inside it. Some gems and some princess brads, and a harry potter bookmark. The purse itself is amazing. I asked Jody how she did it and she said with chalk and craft inks and lots of embossing powder. It just shines. It is just so amazing. She put in so many brads and she said she even had to use a drill on it. Amazing! I avoid scary tools like drills wher...
