Impress #206-901-9101

I had the best mommy time this weekend. Wondering what that is? Well, every Saturday I have free mommy time from 12 noon till 3 o'clock-ish. This Saturday I decided to check out a stamp store in Glendale, since it was not too far from me. I drove to the Creative Quest and when I went in the door, I knew this had been what I was looking for. I was looking for a store that had less emphasis on scrapbooking and more emphasis on rubber stamps, paper and cardmaking. I am so excited about this store you would not even believe it. I spent about an hour browsing around and found some new rubber, some flexible microscope slides, and some precut book board. The Impress flower is pretty rad. It is just the flower, not the center pieces. I love it. I also got two sentiments from Penny Black, but I have not used them yet, so look for them in a future post. I am so excited to play with it all. When I was done there, I made a pit stop at Ceretta's Chocolate Factory (like a block away) and bought some delicious chocolates. M was pretty happy about that when I got home . . . he looked pretty frazzled, apparently my kids can be nerve wracking, who would have thought??? What a perfect mommy time. I took less time than I usually do too -- I think I was back just after 2 pm.
Here are a couple cards I created with a stamp from Impress and Sweet Spot (Stampin' Up!), retired set. I love them!!! The colors I used were elegant eggplant, cranberry crisp, garden green and close to cocoa. The eggplant one was the second one I made and has little glittery "bling" jewels added and the funky green stripe ribbon that I scored at Michael's in the $1 ribbon bin and had been waiting for a place to use. I sure do miss Sweet Spot.

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...

ALMOST TO 50K

EDITED TO ADD: I go by my first name, not my middle. My first name is Amanda. *smiles* Also, I am going to keep this post bumped up to the top so people can find it, but I will be posting more, so please take a moment to scroll down to find the latest stuff -- this will stay up until 50K is reached. *************************** I am so amazed that so many people have been interested in little old stamping me. Okay, well, not me actually, probably mostly my work, but either way, I'm SUPER FLATTERED! I appreciate all the comments you leave me. They really do validate me and make me feel like I should keep on going with this blog. You all ROCK! So, I have decided to do a small giveaway to show my appreciation to you. I will have two separate contests. Both of these contests will win you blog candy (yummy embellishments, and other such fun stuff). The first one is to guess my middle name. You can post your guess as a comment to this post and then I will do a drawing of every...
