COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS - Ribbon Wreath

I fell in love with this wreath in "Seasons of Joy" (page 54) and knew I had to make one. Mine is not quite as elaborate -- they did a cool ribbon flower thingy with the year -- maybe I will add that if I come across something in one of the scrap stores that I like -- but I think it turned out cool!

I used a metal embroidery ring (I think that is what it is -- it was in the section of JoAnn's with all the magnets, mirrors, etc). Then it is as simple as choosing the colors of ribbon, and tying them on, cutting their ends in fishtail, or just on a diagonal.

For the picture, I sewed two pieces of acetate on three sides, to form a pocket. Then I punched a hole in three of the corners and sewed the acetate so it hangs centered in the wreath "frame." The ribbons cover up the sewing/fiber you use, so I used crochet thread so it would be stronger. The picture is fully removable so I can put a new one in next year! YAY!

My final addition was the red ribbon on the top, which I just formed off of the wreath, and then sewed through the back of and around the hanger ribbon to hold it on. VOILA! Off to watch "Gotta Catch that Santa Claus" with my kiddies and start some dinner. Hope you have a lovely and craft filled evening!

Wow...you did a fantastic job and I do think it is elaborate....I love the adorable pic and all the ribbons you've chosen...I might have to scraplift this one for next year....TFS

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). A good mail day

Yesterday was an awesome mail day! I got my swaps from Jody (texasjodylynn). Let me explain, each month, Jody and I swap three things -- cards, 3D objects (usually), and sometimes goodies we find that we think the other person might like. We have done this for about 6 months I think. Well yesterday I got the most amazing Jody package. Here are a few pictures of the stuff inside. The chocolate box was made with designer paper and said "You make life sweet" on top and inside there were some yummy dove chocolates. Seriously, dark chocolate is the BEST! Next I found this most gorgeous purse with some treasures inside it. Some gems and some princess brads, and a harry potter bookmark. The purse itself is amazing. I asked Jody how she did it and she said with chalk and craft inks and lots of embossing powder. It just shines. It is just so amazing. She put in so many brads and she said she even had to use a drill on it. Amazing! I avoid scary tools like drills wher...
