Backyard Dwellers BBQ Invitation - CC207/CPS104

I only wish the weather could stay how it has been here in AZ this past week, year round. It has been gorgeous, breezy, warm -- perfect weather for a Backyard BBQ. As I took the kids to the park the other night, it smelled SO good outside as we walked there -- someone had fired up the grill and was making something delicious. I think that is what inspired this idea. I created an invitation to send to a friend to invite them over to enjoy some fun time, relaxation and a barbecue!

I used the layout this week from Card Positioning Systems (CPS104) and the colors were from the color challenge this week on Splitcoaststampers. I wanted to keep it simple enough to duplicate.

Stamps: Backyard Dwellers (Hanna Stamps), Tiny Talk (SU!) Paper: Summer Sun (SU!), Old Olive (SU!), Pumpkin Pie (SU!), Solar White Classic Crest (Neenah) Ink: Old Olive Classic, Summer Sun Classic, Pumpkin Pie Classic (SU!) Accessories: Scalloped and plain circle nestabilities, cuttlebug machine, dimensional dots (SU!), 1 3/8 and 1 1/4 circle punches (SU!), Large corner rounder (EK Success), paper piercing tool, pumpkin pie grosgrain (SU!), clear dew drops (The Robins Nest), sewing machine, white thread.

What a sweet card. Love the stitching and the 2 strips of ribbon. I think I should try some stitching in a project. I've never done that.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment on my blog Amanda, I truly appreciate it!

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

A good mail day

Yesterday was an awesome mail day! I got my swaps from Jody (texasjodylynn). Let me explain, each month, Jody and I swap three things -- cards, 3D objects (usually), and sometimes goodies we find that we think the other person might like. We have done this for about 6 months I think. Well yesterday I got the most amazing Jody package. Here are a few pictures of the stuff inside. The chocolate box was made with designer paper and said "You make life sweet" on top and inside there were some yummy dove chocolates. Seriously, dark chocolate is the BEST! Next I found this most gorgeous purse with some treasures inside it. Some gems and some princess brads, and a harry potter bookmark. The purse itself is amazing. I asked Jody how she did it and she said with chalk and craft inks and lots of embossing powder. It just shines. It is just so amazing. She put in so many brads and she said she even had to use a drill on it. Amazing! I avoid scary tools like drills wher...
