Hanna Stamps Passport

I don't know if you have seen this adorable set yet, but Hanna is traveling! I meant to post these sooner, but you know how life goes. This set was recently released by Hanna Stamps (April 4th, 2008), so it is still relatively fresh and new. I had so much fun creating with this set and thought I would share . . .

This first one I just love. I found the paper at JoAnn's and thought it would be perfect for a travel theme. The flowers were in my Prima collection and just happened to match perfectly. I put a dew drop in the center of each flower -- some from the sunflower set I have and the other is just clear. Hanna was colored to match the map paper. I sponged the edges of the paper the image was on to give it a worn feel. I stitched along the edges of the card as well as the sentiment, to make it all coherent . . . I think it turned out pretty well! Card measures 5 1/4 by 5 1/4.

This second card did not turn out quite like I envisioned it. But I still think it works. I wanted to use all the little stamps that came with the travel set to create the background. I colored them all in with prismacolor pencils and gamsol. Hanna was also colored with prismas. I masked the rest of the "Don't Forget" sentiment and hand wrote in wear sunscreen -- I thought that would work for a beach vacation. The polka dot ribbon on the bottom was an afterthought, but I think it works with the bright prima flower. I like the layout on this one . . .

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...
