Confessions and Hanna Stamps

CONFESSION -- I admit it, I am stuck on sewing. I have an addiction and I am hoping that eventually I will be able to conquer it, but it is just so easy and the results are a lot of fun! My good old Singer machine has found a permanent home on my stamping desk . . . there I confessed (Jody would be so proud *giggles*)!

Now I can tell you my other news. I have been invited to be a guest designer for the months of Dec/Jan for Hanna Stamps. I absolutely love their stamps! Hanna is such a sassy and cute character to play with. The new set for this month, which will be released

Jan 4th, 2008 (FRIDAY)

is amazingly adorable and you are SO going to want them!!! Yep, so make sure you are saving your pennies. You can see more previews of this set on the Hanna Stamps Design team blogs.

Hope you like today's preview! Check back tomorrow for more fun Hanna antics . . . my favorite parts of this card are the kiss prints stamped on the patterned paper (I stamped off onto another sheet of paper first and then stamped on the patterned paper), the double stitched line of sewing (of course - read above about my addiction), and the layout which came from Jen's blog - her Saturday Sketch . . . thanks for the idea sweetie pie!

Stamps: Hanna Stamps - Celebration set (release date: Jan 4th/08), sentiment by Amuse Artstamps Paper: Cardstock by Stampin' Up! (Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla), Paper Salon - Enamored: Iron Gates Accessories: Pretty in Pink and Blush Blossom Classic Ink by Stampin' Up!, Staz On Brown Ink by Tsukineko, Prima Flowers, Copper Brads by Making Memories, Pink and Red brads by The Paper Studio, Rick Rack and Chocolate Chip ribbon from my collection - I think the rick rack was from a Jody share, brown thread, and my good old singer sewing machine Techniques: Sewing on a card, stamping off, watercoloring with ink pads, Paper piecing

Hi Amanda! thank you so so much for the lovely message you left in my blog just now. The colouring was done with SU markers and hmm... also a bit of watercolouring with SU reinkers and aqua pen. :)

I love this! I can't duplicate the stitching (no machine and no patience!) but I'm sure going to try to recreate the patterned dress. Too cute!

HANNA PREVIEW: For the Soul

This set is totally cool! I have not seen anything like it! I think it is perfect for a sympathy card, a thinking of you, a little hand out at church, maybe even for cards at Easter (thinking ahead here) etc. It is so CUTE! Hanna looks so angelic and well, to be completely honest, reminds me of my little sister (not sure why). I used the sketch at Card Positioning Systems (#83) for the layout. I was going for a "touched by an angel" look on the main image (and I think I kind of created that.) I used vellum to overlay the image to give it that glossy fuzz (soft focus). Stamps : For the Soul (Hanna Stamps), "God Bless" sentiment by American Art Stamp Paper: Lily Kate - Basic Grey, Neenah Solar White, SU vellum card stock, SU Whisper White Ink : Onyx Black Versafine Accessories : Sheer 5/8th Inch organdy ribbon, Nestabilities (Circle and scalloped circle), sewing machine, white thread, circle of plastic canvas, copic markers, white brads, paper piercing ...

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...
