Tis the Season . . . for Holidays & Relatives

Don't stress out, I was not quite meaning Christmas yet, although I have seen some stampers who are already working on Christmas cards! WOW! Speaking of holidays though, I have to admit I am a bit weirded out by the fact that US Thanksgiving is after Halloween. I know I have lived here for like 5 years plus, but growing up in Canada made me trained to expect it in October before Halloween, and my brain cannot handle that it is after. ANYWAY . . . we are headed to visit relatives next weekend . . . fun fun . . . let the holiday party begin.

I was just messing around with some stamps that I got at JoAnn's for $1 each. I came up with a couple of cards, one for Thanksgiving and one for Halloween . . . I made these late last night so I think my creative juices were running out, but they turned out okay.

The turkey card was watercolored and then I doodled on the edges. Had to try that at least once since it is so "in" right now. I also doodled on the linen stamped strip attached with the brads. The "Thank You" is from Stampin' Up! Much Appreciated. The colors I used were chocolate chip, really rust, confetti cream and more mustard.

The bats card is a turned version of SC86. The colors I used are green galore, lovely lilac and basic black. The Spooktacular Stamp is also from JoAnn's. The background was sponged with lovely lilac after I stamped the bats. All the stitching was done using a template by Lasting Impressions to pierce and then my trusty white Gelly roll pen. I really love halloween and I just love this one. It will be hard to part with...

My Decade Later Comeback and Playing Catch Up

Hello friends, It's been awhile and I kind of dropped off the face of the planet since moving to Oregon. I got busy with growing four babies into teens, and attempting to hold together a marriage with a partner who was working out of town for the most part. It was a lot! Truth be told, I have been spending most of my time over on Instagram which allows for more quick picture and caption posts (@the.amanda.sewell), but I really, genuinely miss having a journal of our adventures, so I'm back.  Some changes, my ex-partner moved out in October of 2023 (after 23 years of marriage, who would have thought?) and I am on a new, single mom adventure with the fabulous four. Luckily, they are adjusting to the changes well as we navigate this challenging time as a family team. Things are still in flux and hopefully at the end of all of this, the dust will settle and we will end up landing on our feet. Because of this change, I needed to go back to work and after not working for the past lo...

(SSD014) - Ear Infections and Pneumonia

I apologize for my late posting today . . . the countdown to being 40 weeks preggo continues.  This week has been crazy out of control already, and it's only Tuesday!  YIKES!   Friday night Baby E was running a fever and really congested.  We gave him tylenol/motrin, but he would not take in fluids, and I was worried about him, so I slept on he floor beside his bed (stupid thing to do at 39 weeks pregnant).  Anyway, I cried a bit, and when I woke up in the morning, I had the most intense pain in my right ear ever!  Seriously OW!   Saturday, Mic took the baby to the pediatrician, where he was diagnosed with double ear infections, and pneumonia -- he had a breathing treatment there, and an antibiotic shot . . . and his lungs were sounding much more clear when he left.  Late Saturday night his fever broke, much to our relief.   Sunday was an okay day, mostly we just all rested -- an interesting thought occurred to me while I was on th...
